This one didn't wash up on a beach — it held up a post at our place for years.
When it finally came down, I couldn't let it go. Treated, dried, and turned on its end, I could already see what it wanted to become: a mountain. Waterfalls now tumble down its weathered channels in blues and whites, glowing mushrooms climb its slopes, and a tiny house with a leaf roof sits at the summit.
Look closely — there are no stairs. No path. No way up at all. This house belongs to someone who comes home on wings, dropping out of the dusk to the most beautiful view on the mountain, every single day.
Switch it on and the caps light the falls from beside them, like dusk settling on somewhere very small and very far away.
One of a kind. There won't be another — there never is.
